Tony and Dee Spirit Awards:

On March 16, Urban Steel was requested to attend the WARM 101.3 - Tony and Dee Spirit Awards. The whole band, parents, supporters and other recipients - as well as almost a hundred other spectators were all on hand at the foyer of the HSBC Plaza building at 8:00 AM during the Tony and Dee show.

The "Individual Spirit Award" an amount of $2,000 from the Tony and Dee Spirit Fund, was given in the name of Mary Taylor-James. Mary is one of the directors and founder of the Urban Steel Band. We congratulate Mary on winning this fine community award for all her efforts. Link to WARM 101.3 coverage

The band played one of their favorites "My Love Will Never Die", aired live for the show then "Old Fire Stick", "Africa" and "Hot, Hot, Hot"  to entertain the crowd that had gathered for the event. Several CD's were purchased and everyone had a great time.

The event was aired live on the radio and also covered by at least two local TV stations for the days news.
